SLAM Philippines & TITAN announce the return of the SLAM RISING STARS CLASSIC, the premier high school basketball showcase that has been a staple in the country’s hoops calendar since its first iteration in 2014.
Since then, the yearly celebration has seen high school standouts who’ve participated in the classic go on to have successful college, professional and even international careers.
This year, the top 24 high school prospects have once again been selected to compete in an All-Star game format as Team Punks and Team Hype clash anew. The 2023 selection features a new generation of the best young male players in the country, including Men’s National Team pool members Francis Lopez (committed to UP) and Mason Amos (committed to ADMU) as well as six Junior National Team pool members Jared Bahay, Seven Gagate, Luis Pablo (committed to UP), Kobe Demisana, Kristian Porter, and Lebron Nieto (committed to ADMU). This will take place on May 20, Saturday, at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.
For the first time ever, the 24 best high school girls were selected as the pioneer batch of female SLAM Rising Stars. Among them are Girls’ National Team pool members Camille Nolasco (Miriam College), Candice Udal (DLSZ), Princess Villarin (NUNS), and more. Team Stars and Team Buckets will play each other on May 21, at the same venue.
The weekend also features a special moment for SLAM and Philippine Women’s Basketball as SLAM Philippines finally makes its return to print with a very special issue, to be unveiled before the girls tip off their historic game.
Doors will open at the Gatorade Hoops Center at 1:30pm. Both games will be livestreamed on the Smart Sports Facebook page.
